    The following links provide information and materials of a general nature that may be of interest to parents.

    Victorian Catholic Schools Parent Body (VCSPB) 

    The key purpose of the Victorian Catholic Schools Parent Body (VCSPB) is advocacy, enabling the voice of parents with children in Catholic schools, as stakeholders in Catholic education to be heard, and informing views at diocesan, State and national levels.

    Visit the VCSPB website to access collated resources for parents and schools on topics including Catholic identity, bullying, curriculum, parent engagement and parenting.

    The VCSPB is a founding member of Catholic Schools Parents Australia (CSPA) established in 2013.           

    Changing Schools 

    The Standing Council on School Education and Early Childhood (SCEEC) has developed an Interstate Student Data Transfer Note (ISDTN) to assist schools in meeting the needs of students who move interstate. If parents are interested to see copies of the ISDTN forms, they are available on the SCSEEC website.

    Both these publications provide practical suggestions for parents to assist their child's transition to a new school.

    CatholicCare Family Services Melbourne 

    CatholicCare is a Catholic welfare agency which provides a range of social services and programs, to support children, young people and adults in their relationships with others.

    Early Childhood Connections 

    Early Childhood Connections is a website which is designed by the Centre for Community Child Health to pull together into the one place, much of the information about the early years. It contains almost 400 Australian and more than 350 International website links and continues to grow. These links are collated alphabetically and in submenus to provide easy viewing and access to the most up-to-date information for professionals and parents interested in the renewed emphasis on the early childhood years.

    Early Learning Association Australia 

    Early Learning Association Australia is the peak organisation representing the voice of parents and service providers working to deliver high quality early learning programs to all children.

    Jesuit Social Services 

    Jesuit Social Services has developed a range of diverse community social service programs that provide assistance to vulnerable children and families and to young people who are at risk of homelessness and suicide. Parenting Australia and Sole mates (for single parents) are two of the service programs offered.

    Kids Helpline 

    Kids Helpline exists to assist people to develop strategies and skills which enable them to more effectively manage their own lives. An integral part of this mission is the provision of free, accessible national services which are founded on the principles of empowerment. Kids Helpline is a national 24-hour telephone counselling service available for children and young people in Australia.

    Linking Languages & Literacy 

    The Linking Languages & Literacy brochure highlights the positive contribution that the study of languages makes to children's development of literacy skills in English. It addresses many of the questions often asked by parents in this regard. The development of the brochure was funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) under the National Asian Languages and Studies in Australian Schools (NALSAS) Strategy.

    MacKillop Family Services 

    MacKillop Family Services is a Catholic welfare agency working to foster hope in every person by awakening them to an appreciation of their self-worth.

    Outreach Grief Services 

    Australian Centre for Grief & Bereavement – Outreach Grief Services offer a professional and confidential service to anyone who is bereaved: child, sibling, parent, grandparent, relative, and friend or work colleague.

    Parenting Ideas 

    Parenting Ideas is dedicated to helping parents raise confident kids and resilient young people. We assist teachers and other professionals to work effectively with kids and also to support parents in their community or organisation. Parenting Ideas produces a range of high quality, innovative resources and programs.

    Parents Link 

    The Parents link is a the dedicated area of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development website where you will find valuable information and resources about your child’s development, schooling and education from birth through to 18 years of age. You’ll find helpful resources on learning, health, wellbeing and school life from early childhood through primary and secondary school, as well life after school.

    Family–School Partnerships Framework: A Guide for Schools and Families provides a comprehensive summary of guiding principles, strategies, case studies and resources to guide school communities and school systems in developing effective family–school partnerships.

    The Parenting Research Centre engages in a range of research activities to help parents raise children well. Its focus is to generate new knowledge of how parenting practices affect children, and how best to engage and support parents in this rewarding but often challenging task.
